In my experience, AdRoll used to work fine, but they made an upgrade to their plans and everything stopped working. Now, they don't support other currencies than USD - so be careful to only subscribe to their service if you live in the US. I think the support is terrible, they will do anything to keep your money without them compromising on anything. My experience has been that basically, they will be always right, the customer is never right.

We use AdRoll as a display retargeting platform for a few clients at our agency. We use it to supplement the retargeting capabilities of other advertising networks like Facebook Ads, Google Ads, and Microsoft Ads. We use it on the paid marketing side of things, and it fits in well with our other paid media channels.
  • Variety of advertising media types and sizes
  • Variety of audiences you can choose from to advertise to
  • The interface is pretty up to date and easy to use
  • I'm not sure I trust AdRoll's attributed "revenue". It appears to be significantly overcalculating its effectiveness.
  • I find the interface a bit confusing in a few places like if you want to see reporting for specific audiences split out.
  • Switching between editing campaigns and viewing campaign metrics is a bit confusing.
We use AdRoll specifically for retargeting as a supplement to our other display and retargeting channels, as we figure each channel (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc) does not cover every potential advertising placement. It is easy to spin up a basic retargeting campaign, but I'm unsure if it's the best platform for more advanced campaigns as the functionality and breadth of placement options appear to be limited compared to bigger platforms.

We use AdRoll to help us market our business. We are able to target people who have visited our website and send them banner ads through AdRoll. Advertising is getting more and more expensive, AdRoll helps us lower the cost of advertising through their banner ads, targeting abandon carts and visitors.
  • Good Analytics
  • Easy targeting of customers
  • Easy setup experience
  • Creating ads could be easier on the platform
  • Find more information on where the ads are at
  • Giving more resources on how to generate better ad creative
AdRoll is good for any business that is currently advertising and needs something else to connect with customers outside of the traditional social media ads. If you are spending over $50,000 on ads, I recommend implementing AdRoll into your ad strategy. AdRoll is also great during the holiday season!

Our company uses AdRoll to promote our products, new releases, and sales. We mostly use it to promote social and web advertisements across multiple platforms. Our marketing team is the primary user.
  • Numerous ad types to choose from
  • Syncs well with Shopify
  • Provides real-time data
  • Video ads I notice take a longer period of time to get pushed out than static ones
We find that it is well suited for syncing our products directly through our site and pushing those out through dynamic ads across multiple social platforms. We find these types of ads work best for us, and they update in real-time. For example, if we have a sale the ads will change on their own to reflect the updated pricing.

We use AdRoll as our primary method of retargeting across the web. AdRoll allowed us to set up dynamic campaigns that performed better than Google's.
  • AdRoll helps us retarget prospects across a number of websites and touch points.
  • AdRoll provides you with a customer success manager to provide insights and recommendations.
  • AdRoll will create ads for you if you're short on time!
  • AdRoll should include that time frames for customer viewing windows can be changed - this was very helpful once we implemented it.
  • AdRoll's success just seems kind of random sometimes, it's hard to sometimes make sense of exactly what is working and what isn't.
  • AdRoll struggled to understand our website was blocked by specific countries, they marked our ads as void and we had to have a few conversations to get them to no longer do that.
AdRoll is well suited for businesses that rely on recurring traffic. It does a good job of keeping your company at the top of the mind for customers. AdRoll is easier to set up than Google Dynamic ads and provides results much faster.

Our agency used AdRoll to place digital advertising for our clients. We used it across multiple clients and used it to place ads through multiple platforms The business problem for the agency that was solved was software that enabled us to get moving very quickly. We also felt that the re-targeting "tools" were much more user-friendly than most platform or programmatic tools. The really interesting part about the software is I don't think we were using all of the tools - which means there's a lot to explore and a lot to help small- to mid-sized agencies scale.
  • Easy to use campaign builder
  • Access to popular ad inventory
  • Easy to use/create dashboard
  • Clarity around placement of ads
  • Interface for custom audience creation
  • That's really about it!
I used AdRoll at my previous agency and liked it. So much so, I am in the process of getting my new agency on board with using AdRoll. The primary reason is that it can be very advantageous for a small agency that doesn't meet many of the programmatic minimum ad buys to use. For many of our clients, re-targeting is also very important. I have found that I can get those types of campaigns up and running much quicker than using a platform directly. Overall, AdRoll is really easy to use and can be a great, low-barrier option for smaller agencies.

At DND we used AdRoll primarily for retargeting campaigns across Canada - to get our ads in front of new audiences and drive traffic back to our owned properties - such as website, landing pages, or product pages. We serve in a niche industry - but AdRoll has an excellent database of sources that helped us get in front of potential buyers and prospects in a cost-effective manner. This generated solid top-of-the-funnel prospects and leads for our nurture campaigns.
  • Dynamic Retargeting
  • Lookalike Targeting Feature
  • Marketing Recipes
  • Some metrics are not easy to track and attribute
  • Better integration with Hubspot/MAP tools
AdRoll is really well suited when you have a good understanding of your target audience. And then you can really get the most out of the platform to get your ad in front of those people. The core feature of AdRoll is its excellent retargeting capabilities and deep database for niche audiences and industries. It's a little less intuitive in media planning and scheduling - there are other tools that work a lot better for that aspect of digital.

We use AdRoll to get broad retargeting reach across most of the web to capture leads or sales that would've otherwise fallen through the cracks due to customers forgetting to finalize things on their end. Especially after we have spent money on digital ads to drive prospects to sales pages, we want to maximize the ad pay by using AdRoll to close a few more sales.
  • ROI
  • Low CPC
  • No ability to pre-populate the previous 30 days of customer data, only starting from the day the tag is installed.
AdRoll is excellent for remarketing to audiences that haven't converted to a lead or sale yet.

AdRoll is part of our programmatic tech stack for display advertising and is currently being primarily used as a tool for retargeting and prospecting for new audience members. The technology has worked so far and the quality of audiences discovered by AdRoll is of a significantly higher quality when compared to other technologies.
  • Retargeting.
  • Remarketing.
  • Customer support.
  • API integration is difficult.
Custom creative and the ability to run dynamic ads is a great plus and major differentiation that gives AdRoll a leg up on the competition. If integration into a full tech stack is your goal then you need patience and know-how to integrate AdRoll's tech into your DMP/BMP

Our digital media team uses AdRoll for dynamic retargeting across a variety of clients. It serves display banners that we provide on sites and social based on audience pools and interest. It is most successful in targeting an audience who has already searched for our specific client's products. It also provides accessible reporting dashboards that we can use to report on metrics to our clients.
  • The reporting dashboard that is accessible to AdRoll clients is very clean and easy to use. The transparency of these dashboards allows for detailed reporting that can be extended to your client.
  • The AdRoll account reps are very responsive.
  • The dynamic retargeting that AdRoll provides in a digital setting can target at a very granular level.
  • AdRoll tracking on our end has been having issues lately. We are not sure if our tags have not been implemented correctly, or if there is currently a glitch in the system.
  • Unfortunately, sometimes the account reps and internal technicians do not communicate efficiently enough when an issue arises. This causes a slow turnaround for troubleshooting.
  • The overall understanding that the account reps have of their own system needs improvement.
AdRoll is great if you need another form of dynamic retargeting for display advertisements for your client. It is a good additional partner to use for large ad campaigns that have money to spend on a variety of targeting tactics. For example, we use AdRoll for dynamic retargeting for many of our clients. One of these clients has a relatively small budget, and we still see good performance.

As an agency, our digital paid media department uses AdRoll for our web and social retargeting for e-commerce clients. It's relatively low maintenance and provides a modest ROI. We actually prefer the AdRoll interface to running retargeting in the Facebook ad manager due to the speed, simplicity, and ease of implementation. It saves us a good amount of time and is less expensive than most other comparable tools.
  • Much easier to set up dynamic retargeting than AdWords
  • Customer service is fairly responsive and is standard with all accounts
  • New reporting features are an upgrade and no longer require use of excessive filters
  • The "attribution" model is a little suspect. We use just a 1-day lookback window, as "view-thru" conversion value is difficult to measure.
  • For Facebook ads, you have to contact customer service to edit any ads. The approval of ads is unnecessarily long.
  • There is not a lot of control over the bidding and the actual fees are a little unclear.
E-commerce sites with a significant amount of SKUs are good candidates for dynamic retargeting on both the web and Facebook. Having the ability to serve these highly relevant ad creatives without having to create them manually, allows for more time spent customizing your strategy around high-value segments/users, rather than using budget on design hours. It is relatively affordable and we have found it to be a better use of budget than other platforms such as Gemini or Outbrain.

AdRoll is being used in the digital media department across two of our clients. It has allowed us to do dynamic re-targeting for a small client of ours that has several events on any given day.
  • Dynamic Retargeting -- We have not been able to find another partner that has allowed us to do this in the same way.
  • Customer service: sometimes the response times are not the best.
  • Fixing problems: a lot of times if we have a problem AdRoll reaches out to a lot of their engineers and they are unable to find a solution.
  • Management: we have had issues with our AdRoll team and really taking the time on our accounts.
AdRoll really excels in dynamic re-targeting. That is what sets it apart from other vendors that we use, and is one of the only reasons why we continue to use it.

Aspen is in the early stages of developing an e-commerce B2C business after 25+ years primarily focused globally on B2B sales. AdRoll was used by our B2C business for retargeting. We used AdRoll to follow up with website visitors that didn't convert on the initial visit.
  • The interface is easy to use and quick to learn.
  • Extensive variety of templates for ads.
  • Ads are easy to customize.
  • Reports to evaluate the performance of campaigns.
  • Pricing is a challenge; while using there wasn't a fixed fee. Fees are based upon interactions with ads and emails.
  • It takes a good month to get clear and accurate reports. I would like more real-time reporting.
AdRoll is an easy way to approach digital marketing and retargeting as well as prospecting. It is relatively easy to set-up to begin data tracking for your website. That said, it is imperative to invest time to know the product and its support, retarget program is only successful if its set-up properly to track website visitors and know if the advertising is converting to sales. If you have a small retargeting campaign you would like to run - AdRoll is the perfect tool for you. It is not built for scale, we had issues when we'd try to segment out user groups, refine data parameters about the targeted user groups.

We use AdRoll across the entire organization and it’s one of the requirements for working with us from a consulting standpoint. We've found that AdRoll is the easiest third-party remarketing marketing tool to implement.
  • Track conversions are extremely simple. The interface is clean and easy to navigate.
  • AdRoll will custom create banners if you ask them.
  • They have clear and detailed instructions on how to do everything.
  • Their support goes above and beyond and makes me feel confident that they can get the job done.
  • I would like to see more reporting on where my ads are showing.
  • Would like to see a native ad-builder where I could create ads myself.
  • Would like to see if client reports could be emailed to me weekly.
AdRoll is a great third-party remarketing tool that allows virtually any business to set up and run. Unfortunately, if you’re just starting out and don’t have a lot of traffic, you really won’t get any benefits from this. While I would still suggest installing the pixel if your site is new, it takes a certain amount of use for remarketing to benefit you.

We are using AdRoll to deliver and display advertising to our remarketing and matched email audiences. In the past, we have also used the platform to deliver advertising on social media platforms; however, for the time being, we are focused on more traditional display units. We are also using the platform to help measure attribution for our display advertising.
  • AdRoll's interface is intuitive to use and easy to learn.
  • AdRoll's feature set exceeds the capabilities of Google's display platform in some respects (especially as it relates to minimum audience sizes).
  • Nice reporting capabilities help with evaluating campaign performance.
  • AdRoll's pricing is opaque. While it's nice that there's no platform fee, it's not possible to see what markup AdRoll is adjusting pricing by.
  • Some features have been deprecated in the AdRoll platform (ie. SFDC integration), so that they can start to offer them through their other products, which come at a much higher commit.
  • Some reporting options are slow to run and there appears to be quite a lag on the metrics.
AdRoll is well-suited to nimble teams that don't have the budgets (or patience) for working with larger agencies. It's nice that the platform is self-serve, yet still fairly robust in terms of targeting capabilities. The platform also has a good breadth of options when it comes to the creative units it supports.

Obviously, if you have massive budgets there are platforms that are better suited to both your media serving and measurement needs.

The marketing department uses AdRoll to retarget users who visit our site as well as prospect lookalike users who have not visited. The problem we are addressing is the ability to capture and follow users as they browse the web. AdRoll allows for support of Facebook and Instagram retargeting/prospecting, which is key as we also attempt to grow our social following.
  • Retargeting
  • Prospecting
  • Trackability
  • Management of old campaigns
  • Ability to delete drafts
  • More social integration
AdRoll is great for those who have a strong creative department and want the ability to retarget users who land on their site. AdRoll is also great for prospecting as you can upload your database and AdRoll will prospect lookalikes. For folks who want to track users on social (Facebook and Instagram), AdRoll does wonders. You also have the ability to email prospects which is another great way to build a unique database.

AdRoll is being used across our organization by the marketing team for retargeting ads. It is cheaper than using AdWords and more efficient in reaching a larger range of audiences. We didn't have a method to express remarketing ads, so this was perfect for us.
  • Customizability of visual ads is easy and efficient. I can make it look the way I want it with the words I need to use.
  • I think the reach not being limited to just Google but rather accross multiple channels is an advantage for AdRoll.
  • Has a great support team that is always ready to help out. They were particularly helpful when we were first trying to set up our first ad campaign.
  • They could make their documentation more easy to understand such that it is more user-friendly for first time users, so we don't have to reach out to support for more information.
  • They could have the functionality of more design options on the page. I had to externally make the ad have the background I wanted and upload it. But having editing capabilities on site would be easier.
  • I would like to see them expand into other aspects of advertising, not just remarketing and retargeting ads.
It is very well suited for easy targeting especially when it comes to visual ads in the remarketing and retargeting categories. As a small business, this option is also affordable for our use.

Adroll was used by our company to expand our digital marketing reach for a key specific demographic and audience. It attempted to address our need for additional brand exposure with a limited budget as well as to help retain visitors to our website. The campaign goal was to increase as many conversions as possible.
  • Adroll is easy to set up and start
  • The user interface is quite intuitive without a learning curve
  • The control on adspend is much better when compared to competitors
  • Would be better to have more control over where ads appear similar to AdWords
  • A decrease in CPM (cost per thousand impressions) would be crucially beneficial
  • The option to perform CPC campaigns ala AdWords
AdRoll works well if you are looking to do generic brand marketing campaigns to increase visitor retention rates as well as for branding purposes. If you are looking at adroll as a cost-effective or cheaper alternative to traditional digital marketing then I warn you to look elsewhere as the CPMs can become very costly.

We utilize AdRoll for remarketing events, new products, solutions, and featured content to previous website visitors. This is currently only used by marketing but is integrated into both customer and new prospect marketing. This helps us to target people who come to our main website but haven't taken a 'hot' action yet.
  • Remarketing specific pages to a target audience within our wheelhouse. We can quickly and easily set this up; no wasted time is accumulated.
  • The ad sizes are constricting. If you want to have a gif file, you're going to have to use the bare minimum in design.
  • Support is not the best. They are not helpful and has resulted in multiple calls to support.
AdRoll is ideal for companies not interested or ready for PPC, but is wanting to venture into paid advertising. It works well for our events as well as our solutions to grow our brand awareness.

AdRoll is not ideal for very small companies, companies struggling with defining their target audience, or companies with limiting graphics resources. This is not a platform that will walk you through its abilities.

We used AdRoll to retarget various groups of website visitors and product users to move them further down the funnel of becoming a paid user. Our solution was a freemium solution with both an individual and team paid plan. We had AdRoll deeply integrated to be able to track both website visitors as well as users.
  • Retarget website visitors based on the specific pages they visited
  • Retarget product users based on the pages/features they did OR did not use
  • Increase product usage by targeting high potential users with value of our paid solution
  • Increase product sign ups but targeting website visitors who are actively engaged with our brand but DID NOT sign up yet
  • When I was using AdRoll I don't think they had the ability to retarget on LinkedIn - that would be the ultimate retargeting platform but can't remember if this is already available or in the works
  • It's great to supplement the work you are already doing to get visitors to the website - use AdRoll to retarget people who have visited your website > visited X page OR done X action > to push them further along your funnel
  • It's also interesting to use to retarget users who you believe are high-value but HAVE NOT completed a specific action. For example, you could retarget your engaged users who DID NOT visit your plan upgrade page yet OR perhaps they did not discover a page/feature that is critical to them becoming an avid user.
  • It's not a fallback option for solving your traffic volume issues. You need a good amount of traffic for retargeting to be relevant.

I use AdRoll in my role as a digital marketing manager to retarget our website visitors with display ads and Facebook ads. As a member of the lead gen/revenue marketing team, I am focused on converting new leads at the top of the marketing funnel. Adroll helps bring in a consistent number of conversions on our content each month, depending on what we are promoting in our display ads. AdRoll helps us keep website visitors engaged after they visit for the first time.
  • Ad placement. Our ads see good engagement where AdRoll places them.
  • Campaign customization. There are many targeting and budget options within the campaign setup.
  • Reporting. AdRoll provides simple, streamlined reporting on impressions, clicks, conversions, spend, etc.
  • Segmentation. It's pretty easy to set up conversion segments and track where we are seeing conversions.
  • I would like to see better attribution reporting. Some of AdRoll's new features try to tackle this but I haven't seen much value from this yet. Would love to know where my campaigns are overlapping, if specific people are contributing to impressions across multiple campaigns.
  • Examples of high performing display ads, suggestions on how to improve design and conversions.
  • Access to the prospecting campaigns. I'm super interested in using this feature but have not been given access or any information on how to get up and running.
AdRoll is super helpful if you are looking to re-engage specific segments of your website traffic. It works best if you have enough web traffic each month to set up ad groups that include and exclude groups of visitors for more targeted ad campaigns. AdRoll also offers great options for retargeting on Facebook which is usually super effective.

AdRoll supports our retargeting efforts domestically and abroad. Compared to other retargeting vendors, I find that AdRoll puts a lot of emphasis on providing its clients with a robust account team that does 90% of the heavy-lifting to manage the campaigns. From campaign set-up to ad creation and reporting, you can rely on AdRoll to be an extension of your marketing team. We communicate with them on a weekly basis and have bi-monthly calls. All this at no extra cost. If you have a small in-house marketing team, this can be very valuable.
  • Dynamic retargeting ads have been very effective with AdRoll. And they've allowed us to slice and dice our catalog very effectively.
  • Segmentation! Segmentation! Segmentation! From behavioral audience segmenting, to URL based segments, or CRM audiences, there's a lot of flexibility in the platform.
  • Reporting by geo would be nice.
  • Integration with enterprise-level ESPs. Updating CRM lists is currently inefficient.
AdRoll is a good solution, but may not be appropriate for a new website or a site with low traffic. Make sure you set some clear CPA goals.

We use AdRoll in our marketing department to retarget visitors to our website who did not complete one of our key forms. The AdRoll banners are used to attract visitors back to our site in hopes of converting them into a lead to pass to our sales department.
  • Simple, easy to use interface and dashboard for reporting on metrics.
  • Easy access to support via a chat button button in the lower right corner of the screen.
  • Uploading artwork is simple, just drag and drop.
  • Setting up visitor segments can be a bit confusing, each time we need to make changes we have to reach out to our AdRoll rep.
  • Needs more integrations. Would like to integrate AdRoll with Pardot and possibly our CRM.
  • I would like our AdRoll rep to reach out to us more often to check in, help with things, or offer best practices to help us get the most out of their solution.
We've only ever used AdRoll for retargeting and been happy with their product and the results. Companies should clearly test a few similar products and decide what they need and if the product does that. AdRoll is well suited for us.

Adroll has boosted our remarketing efforts across the whole company due to it's ease of use and quick set up. The easy set up and metrics make it simple to explain to marketing teams, and track and show results.
  • It has easy set up, you can have a campaign set up in minutes.
  • The metrics are easy to read and provide the information we're looking for.
  • The support team have been helpful and responsive.
  • Their invoicing process can be confusing. The invoices do not provide enough information, such as an itemized list of the amount spent on each campaign in that invoice, which campaigns are included in the billed invoice, and a date range.
  • Editing campaigns (dates, budget, etc) can be difficult once a campaign has started.
  • The "campaigns purchased" vs. "deliveries billed" invoices can get confusing at times.
The main hurdle is web traffic. If a new site is launched it likely wont have enough web traffic to make a remarketing campaign effective.
